Rainbow Devils celebrate 5th Anniversary at Old Trafford Pitch Day

A group of Rainbow Devils were honoured to be invited to play a game of football at Old Trafford to celebrate the Supporters’ Club’s 5th Anniversary, at an Adidas Pitch Day on 2nd June.

Members had the opportunity to play on the Old Trafford pitch, against a Unity Team featuring LGBT+ football fans and allies, including club staff. We were allocated 45 places & we thought the fairest way to invite people was to base it on the number of events they’ve attended in the past.

Stonewall FC’s first team, which plays in the Middlesex County League Premier Division, also played a match against an Adidas team, which drew 0-0.

It was an incredible day which will be remembered for a lifetime by the supporters who came along, and a wonderful way to celebrate our 5th anniversary.

Eric Najib, our supporters’ club’s co-chair, said: “Rainbow Devils are hugely proud of the progress that we have made in our five years, with over 1,700 members now in our group. None of this would have been possible without the support of the club who have backed us every step of the way.

“We want to say a huge thank you to adidas for all their support and for allowing our members to have a pitchday experience that they will never ever forget.

“It was a joyous occasion and something that we will remember for ever. We look forward to continuing the collaboration between Rainbow Devils, MUFC and adidas in the coming months and years! On behalf of all our members, thank you so much.”

Here are a few photos from the day. We’ll be publicising details on our website of how to get involved in this year’s entry at Manchester’s Pride Parade in August, as well as information on events planned for next season, over the coming weeks and months – so watch this space.
